Phase 4: Communication
The fourth phase of trend management focuses on the targeted and transparent communication of the identified trends, evaluations, and derived measures. The goal is to make trend knowledge visible throughout the company, create acceptance for new developments, and actively involve all relevant stakeholders.
Effective communication begins with selecting the right formats and channels. Different target groups each require adapted information and presentation forms. In the Trendmanager, for example, reports, trend updates, or newsletters can be distributed for this. The export and visualization functions help present complex relationships understandably and get the most important messages to the point. Using Workspaces also supports moderating discussions and feedback in a targeted way and developing trend knowledge collaboratively.
Typical communication occasions are, for example, the start of a new innovation project, a trend radar update, the presentation of milestones or results from evaluation workshops, as well as regular trend newsletters and kick-off events. The presentation of best-practice examples or invitations to Q&A sessions also offer good opportunities to bring the topic of trends and innovations into the company.
In addition, methods such as creating infographics or interactive presentations are suitable for conveying trends vividly and memorably. Regular feedback loops promote dialogue, help clarify open questions, and strengthen acceptance of new topics in the company. Best-practice examples from your own organization or from external pioneers can additionally inspire and provide orientation.
It is important to understand communication as a continuous process: trends and innovations should be communicated not just once, but regularly and in different formats. This keeps the topic present and the willingness to change grows throughout the company. Common mistakes are, for example, too broad or too detailed an information overload, a lack of adaptation of the content to the target group, irregular communication, or neglecting feedback and questions. Overlooking important communication occasions or the absence of a clear message can also mean that trend topics do not have the desired effect in the company.
