Trend radar for SMEs
Sustainability is the key indicator of economic strength in times of ever faster change and immense global challenges. Being — and staying — innovative is a permanent task that particularly affects SMEs. This is because the corona pandemic has led to a significant dynamization of the entire business environment, which has caused new instabilities that need to be addressed.
We generally characterize SMEs in the D-A-CH region as highly adaptable, agile from within and cooperative externally. World-renowned brands, hidden champions and family businesses, some of which have existed for generations, are proof of product quality and the successful combination of tradition and expertise.
With Trend Radar for SMEs, TRENDONE, in cooperation with the BDI, provides a data-based answer to the question of the most relevant trends for 2022.

The most relevant trends for 2022
The trend radar is one of the most important tools for effectiveness in the innovation process. It answers the question of which trends a company should and must focus on in the future.

The results of the trend evaluation are presented in the “Act-Prepare-Watch” trend radar logic. The trend radar thus provides orientation at first glance and shows how to proceed with trends in a corporate context.
The trend radar for SMEs is the basis for the development of fields of innovation and serves as an internal and external communication tool.
The most important trends in SMEs were assessed according to their influence on the respective company and the assessment of mainstream adaptation. The macro trends set as Act trends represent the most relevant topics for action.
The top reviews
Above all trends is the socio-economic topic of sustainability, which all players must adapt to, while digitalization remains at the forefront of mega trends.
Digitization
is the most important mega trend.
Digitalization trends are still of undisputed importance for SMEs in the D-A-CH region.

Cybersecurity
is the highest-rated macro trend.
For most medium-sized companies in Germany as an industrial location, all levers are on Act when it comes to cybersecurity.

Circular Economy
is rated the most influential of all four sustainability trends.
In energy-intensive industries, the potential of the circular economy is particularly high.
