What is the Megatrend Map?
The Megatrend Map is our overview "atlas" of the major transformation processes that will massively influence our world over the coming years. With our Megatrend Map, you gain an overview of these change processes along with explanations of the current TRENDONE Trend Universe.
What are megatrends?
Megatrends are the major transformation phenomena of our time. They reflect society-wide developments that have already begun and will continue to gather strength over the next 10 to 20 years. Megatrends are developments that will fundamentally shape our future. Examples of such society-wide change processes include "urbanization" or "artificial intelligence."

Which megatrends are there?
In recent months, our trend analysts have identified 17 different megatrends in total:these are the 17 megatrends in our Trend Universe.
How do we research megatrends?
Our research approach follows the maxim: big things start small. That's why at TRENDONE we follow a step-by-step approach when analyzing trends.
- Step: Our trend scouts continuously monitor the latest innovations across all industries. We call these specific innovations Micro Trends, because we read them as a first, "weak" signal.
- Step: Our trend analysts examine the Micro Trends for patterns. When innovations of a certain type accumulate, they are grouped into a cluster. Such a cluster then describes a broader transformation phenomenon, such as "ethical consumption." We call such a higher-level transformation phenomenon a Macro Trend. You will find a total of 109 of these on our Megatrend Map.
- Step: Certain connections between the Macro Trends can also be identified. The Macro Trends "ethical consumption" and "circular economy," for example, point in the same direction of change—toward a more sustainable future. So our trend analysts can also identify patterns among Macro Trends and form higher-level clusters. These higher-level clusters then map out large-scale, society-wide structural shifts.
We refer to these large-scale transformation phenomena as megatrends. On our new Megatrend Map, you will find a total of 17 such megatrends that will significantly influence our society in the future.
