The future of the energy sector – strategic integration of trends for the energy sector
The world is changing ever faster. Digitization, disruptive technologies, the decentralization of the power grid and many other factors are questioning the relevance of the energy sector’s current business models. On behalf of a Swiss energy service company, Trendone was asked to identify the most relevant changes in the industry. The clearly presented results served as a discussion basis for a broad target group and highlighted the strategic relevance for the company.
Together with the company, Trendone created an individual Trend Radar which enabled us to identify trends relevant to the industry at an early stage.
By way of detailed cross-industry research work with a focus on the German-speaking (DACH) region, Trendone first detected 26 technological and social trends. Subsequently, employees with specialist knowledge collaborated with Trendone to prioritize these trends and strategically assign them to the ACT-THINK-WATCH parts of the Trend Radar. The basis for this was the assessments provided by the employees, who thereby made a key contribution to the company’s strategic decisions. The Trend Radar serves many of the company employees as a strategic decision-making and communications tool.
“The systematic evaluation of relevant trends allowed a common understanding to be created and the strategic alignment based on this could be discussed, analyzed and adapted”
