THE EVOLUTION OF INTELLIGENCE
The first living creatures appeared 3.5 billion years ago. First, the single-celled organisms, then mammals and later intelligent species like the great apes, which created the genetic basis for the first Homo sapiens and started the transition from biological to human intelligence.
In all probability, our generation is now witnessing the transition to a new intelligent species. At the moment, this species still currently lives on silicon chips but could move to quantum and DNA computer in a few more years. This “neuromorphic hardware” may well lead to a major development of the next intelligence level –Artificial Intelligence – and also to a form of artificial life with consciousness.
In our globally-oriented trend research, we can see every day how the technologies required for this development, such as quantum computing, genome editing and neural networks, are spreading and making rapid advances.
